Anti-Connexin 43 / GJA1 antibody - Intercellular Junction Marker (ab11370) specifically detects Connexin 43 / GJA1 (UniProt ID: P17302; Molecular weight: 43kDa) and is sold in 50 µL selling sizes. Quality and Validation Abcam's high quality validation processes ensure Anti-Connexin 43 / GJA1 antibody - Intercellular Junction Marker (ab11370) has high sensitivity and specificity. The specificity of Anti-Connexin 43 / GJA1 antibody - Intercellular Junction Marker (ab11370) has been confirmed by testing in knockout samples. Anti-Connexin 43 / GJA1 antibody - Intercellular Junction Marker (ab11370) has been cited over 310 times in peer reviewed journals and is trusted by the scientific community. Anti-Connexin 43 / GJA1 antibody - Intercellular Junction Marker (ab11370) has 31 independent reviews from customers. Target Information Connexin 43 (Cx43), encoded by the GJA1 gene, is a key component of gap junctions that enable direct communication between cells. It plays a vital role in maintaining tissue homeostasis and coordinating cellular functions. Abnormal Cx43 expression is linked to various diseases, including oculodentodigital dysplasia (ODDD), which affects the eyes, teeth, and fingers, and congenital heart defects. Additionally, Cx43 has been associated with cancer, where its altered expression can promote tumor progression and metastasis. Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended. If slight turbidity occurs upon prolonged storage, clarify the solution by centrifugation before use. Abcam recommended secondaries - Goat Anti-Rabbit HRP ( ab205718 ) and Goat Anti-Rabbit Alexa Fluor® 488 ( ab150077 ). Or search our wide range of secondary antibodies for use with your experiment.

Scientific Background

Target data Gap junction protein that acts as a regulator of bladder capacity. A gap junction consists of a cluster of closely packed pairs of transmembrane channels, the connexons, through which materials of low MW diffuse from one cell to a neighboring cell. May play a critical role in the physiology of hearing by participating in the recycling of potassium to the cochlear endolymph. Negative regulator of bladder functional capacity : acts by enhancing intercellular electrical and chemical transmission, thus sensitizing bladder muscles to cholinergic neural stimuli and causing them to contract (By similarity). May play a role in cell growth inhibition through the regulation of NOV expression and localization. Plays an essential role in gap junction communication in the ventricles (By similarity).
