Scientific Background

Target data Capsid protein VP1. Capsid protein self assembles to form an icosahedral capsid with a T=3 symmetry, about 38 nm in diameter, and consisting of 180 capsid proteins (PubMed : 10514371). A smaller form of capsid with a diameter of 23 nm might be capsid proteins assembled as icosahedron with T=1 symmetry (PubMed : 31182604, PubMed : 9311906). The capsid encapsulates the genomic RNA and is decorated with VP2 proteins. Attaches virion to target cells by binding histo-blood group antigens (HBGAs) present on gastroduodenal epithelial cells (PubMed : 12055602, PubMed : 12825167, PubMed : 16840313).. Soluble capsid protein. The soluble capsid protein may play a role in viral immunoevasion. See full target information ORF2
