CD14, also known as endotoxin receptor, is a member of the cell surface glycoprotein family. In a series of reactions caused by the body's immune and defense systems, it mediates cell recognition of LPS and causes cell tyrosine phosphorylation, nuclear factor NF-κB translocation, triggering cytokine release and oxygen free radical production. CD14 plays an important role in regulating cytokine production, so the study of CD14 structure, function and clinical significance has received increasing attention.
