Scientific Background

CD62P is a Ca2+-dependent receptor for myeloid cells that binds to carbohydrates on neutrophils and monocytes. It mediates the interaction of activated endothelial cells or platelets with leukocytes, recognizing the ligand sialyl-Lewis X. During the initial steps of inflammation, CD62P facilitates rapid leukocyte rolling over vascular surfaces through interaction with SELPLG. It also mediates cell-cell interactions and adhesion via binding to integrin alpha-IIb/beta3 (ITGA2B:ITGB3) and integrin alpha-V/beta-3 (ITGAV:ITGB3).
