CDT1 is a protein required for both DNA replication and mitosis. As a DNA replication licensing factor, it is essential for the assembly of pre-replication complexes (pre-RC). During the G1 phase of the cell cycle, CDT1 cooperates with CDC6 and the origin recognition complex (ORC) to promote the loading of the mini-chromosome maintenance (MCM) complex onto DNA, thereby forming pre-replication complexes (pre-RC). Additionally, CDT1 plays a role in mitosis by facilitating stable kinetochore-microtubule attachments. CDT1 is also considered a potential oncogene (by similar).
