Scientific Background

NAD(P) dependent steroid dehydrogenase-like (NSDHL) is an enzyme involved in the late stages of cholesterol biosynthesis (1). Mutations in theNSDHLgene are associated with the X-linked conditions CHILD (congenital hemidysplasia with ichthyosiform erythroderma and limb defects) and CK syndromes (2,3). Elevated NSDHL expression has been found in several cancer types, including breast, gastric, pancreatic, and multiple myeloma, and can be a potent driver of metastasis and predictor of poor prognosis (4-8).
