Scientific Background

OCT2 is a transcription factor that specifically binds to the octamer motif (5'-ATTTGCAT-3'). It regulates IL6 expression in B cells in conjunction with POU2AF1 (By similarity). Beyond activating immunoglobulin gene expression, OCT2 modulates transcription in various tissues. Additionally, it influences transcription transactivation by NR3C1, AR, and PGR, and activates the U2 small nuclear RNA (snRNA) promoter.
