Staphylococcus aureus surface protein G (spg) is a key protein involved in bacterial adhesion, biofilm formation, and nasal colonization. It comprises of an N-terminal A domain, which can facilitate adherence to host tissues during infection, a B domain containing G5-E repeats, which is essential for biofilm formation and cell aggregation and a cell wall anchoring domain, which anchors spg to the cell wall.
