Tumor Necrosis Factor (TNF) Antibody is a Rabbit polyclonal against Tumor Necrosis Factor (TNF). Tumor Necrosis Factor (TNF) is a multifunctional proinflammatory cytokine that belongs to the Tumor Necrosis Factor (TNF) superfamily. It is mainly secreted by macrophages and functions through its receptors TNFRSF1A/TNFR1 and TNFRSF1B/TNFBR. TNF is involved in the regulation of a wide spectrum of biological processes including cell proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, lipid metabolism, and coagulation and has been implicated in a variety of diseases, including autoimmune disease, insulin resistance, psoriasis, rheumatoid arthritis ankylosing spondylitis, tuberculosis, autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease, and cancer. Mutations in the TNF gene are linked to susceptibility to cerebral malaria, septic shock, and Alzheimer's disease.

Tumor Necrosis Factor (Tumor Necrosis Factor) is an important cytokine produced by numerous cell types including neutrophils, activated lymphocytes, macrophages and NK cells. It plays a critical role in inflammatory responses and in apoptosis. Tumor Necrosis Factor is believed to mediate pathogenic shock and tissue injury associated with endotoxemia. Tumor Necrosis Factor exists as a multimer of two, three, or five non covalently linked units, but shows a single 17 kDa band following SDS PAGE under non reducing conditions. Although it has little effect on many cultured normal human cells, Tumor Necrosis Factor appears to be directly toxic to vascular endothelial cells. Other actions of Tumor Necrosis Factor include stimulating growth of human fibroblasts and other cell lines, activating polymorphonuclear neutrophils and osteoclasts, and induction of interleukin 1, prostaglandin E2 and collagenase production. Tumor Necrosis Factor is currently being evaluated in treatment of certain cancers and AIDS Related Complex.
