Secondary Antibodies

Secondary antibody refers to an antibody raised against the Fc region or the entire immunoglobulin molecule of a primary antibody. It enables indirect detection by specifically recognizing the host species of the primary antibody, and achieves signal amplification through the mechanism whereby multiple secondary antibodies bind to a single primary antibody. Conjugated with detectable labels such as enzymes, fluorochromes or biotin, secondary antibodies transmit signals effectively without direct binding to the target antigen, thereby minimizing background interference from endogenous immunoglobulins in samples and significantly improving the sensitivity and specificity of detection.
